Holidays are valuable. I was fortunate enough to see the SIDE CORE: Living road, Living space show at the 21st Century Contemporary Art Gallery in Kanazawa recently. My relaxed frame of mind perhaps allowed me to view these artworks more openly. SIDE CORE is a Japanese art collective that have output numerous projects exploring street culture, the way we convey messages and use public spaces. What is a canvas? Part of the exhibition included their Road to Noto short film, a project that seemed to resonate with us having completed the drive from Kanazawa to Wajima City the previous day, and covered the same Noto Peninsula region that still remains visibly affected by the tragic 2024 New Years Day earthquake. Art inspires and enlightens.
