Michael Heizer’s extraordinarily large land art project City, in Lincoln County, Nevada was completed in 2022. Amazing what 50 years of dedication and a $40 million budget (financed by patrons) can produce. On my wish list to visit along with James Turrell’s Roden Crater (what a double that would be), bookings are limited, and seasonal, chances are probably slim for this Australian, but I have gained determination in just trying to grasp the size and timeframe involved. Spanning 2.4km by 800m – the epic scale must only be understood in person. I would dearly love to experience this otherworldly wonder.
