Vibrant and lively images that make you feel a bit giddy by former NASA thermal engineer turned artist back in the mid 70’s, Kim Keever. I was fortunate enough to see one of his large scale images at the recent Iris Van Herpen exhibition at GOMA in Brisbane and they are truly spectacular. A single image that hold your attention for such a time is remarkable to me. I particularly like his abstract series which features images captured on a large format digital camera of paint being poured into a 200 gallon (757 litres) tank of water. No idea what it is, and no doubt the reason they are so engaging, but something mysterious is revealed, I’m convinced, and also just fine in not knowing.
